Collaboration creates choices for retirement living

Tunstall Healthcare, the world's leading connected healthcare provider, has collaborated with Living Choice to update their retirement village emergency call systems to the Tunstall monitoring service.

Starting in July 2015, the transition process involved a custom solution for each village to suit its specific needs and set up, which required a close working partnership between Tunstall and Living Choice throughout.

Over 700 units across five villages were fitted with emergency call systems, with some requiring the team to transfer monitoring of existing hardware to Tunstall's 24-hour monitoring centre.

"We wanted to see where we could reduce costs for residents without reducing the services," said Christine Osgood, Living Choice Operations Manager.

"We were impressed with Tunstall's professionalism, the scale of operations and level of customer service.

"The team has been totally devoted to making sure we are receiving top quality service," added Ms Osgood.

In some villages, such as those located at Alloura Waters and Broadwater Court, the process consisted mainly of transferring monitoring of the original system to Tunstall.

However, at Living Choice Kawana Island, Glenhaven and Twin Waters, Tunstall also replaced the existing medical alarms and provided training for the ground staff on how to re-program the system themselves, helping to reduce installation costs across the villages.

"It was an exciting process working with Living Choice," said Sarah Mialkowski, Tunstall Healthcare Business Development Manager.

"We've worked together to come up with the best cost-effective solution for each village's specific requirements.

"Living Choice is a progressive organisation and we look forward to working with them to further expand their service offering into the future using Tunstall's latest technologies,” she said.

Residents were consulted throughout the transition, and can now benefit from Tunstall's partnership with the National Home Doctors Service and the comprehensive monitoring provided by Tunstall monitoring centres across Australia and New Zealand.

"We are looking forward to fostering a good business relationship with Tunstall as we continue to expand our portfolio and our services," said Ms Osgood.
